Organizing and Segmenting Supporters

REACH provides flexible tools to organize, group, and segment your supporters so you can communicate effectively, track engagement, and maintain accurate records.

The main options include:

Supporter Groups

Groups are manual lists you create to organize supporters by shared characteristics such as:

  • Volunteers
  • Mission trip participants
  • New donors
  • Donors from a specific location

Supporters can belong to multiple groups. You can add them manually, through imports, reports, campaigns, or using automations.

Supporter Segments

Segments are dynamic lists that update automatically based on set criteria. For example, you can build a segment of:

  • Donors who give monthly over $100
  • Supporters with no current sponsorships
  • Donors who have given more than $5,000 lifetime

Segments refresh daily (or on demand), so you always have up-to-date lists for reporting or communication.

Supporter Relationships

Relationships serve as a quick reference for admins within a supporter’s profile and can also be included in Reports or exported when needed. For example, you can create relationships for:

  • Spouse/Partner
  • Employer ↔ Employee
  • Donor Advised Fund ↔ Advising Donor
  • Parent ↔ Child
  • Pastor
  • Church Member
  • Volunteer

Choosing the Right Tool

Use Groups when you want to manually organize supporters into categories for communication or management.

Use Segments when you want REACH to automatically build lists based on supporter activity or history.

Use Relationships to quickly see who has ties with another supporter.
