The 404 Portal Template controls the layout and content displayed when someone navigates to a page on your site that doesn’t exist.
Use this template to customize the messaging, branding, and content shown when a visitor encounters a 404 error.

Access This Template
Go to Portal Content → Portal Templates → 404.
Tip: Make edits in Staging Site first so you can preview changes before publishing
Image (Logo)
Customize the image displayed at the top of the 404 page (typically your logo).
You can:
- Adjust margins and size
- Set corner radius and drop shadow
- Add alternate text
- Enforce an aspect ratio
To remove this image, delete the Image block.
Heading (404 – Page Not Found)
Customize the main heading displayed on the 404 page.
You can:
- Edit the heading text
- Adjust margins
- Set heading size
- Change text color
Example alternative headings include:
- Oops! Page Not Found
- Sorry, We Can’t Find That Page
- This Page Doesn’t Exist
- Lost in the Web?
- 404 Error – Page Not Found
Text Block
Customize the text displayed below the heading.
You can:
- Edit the content
- Adjust margins
- Set font size
- Change text color
Default text is included, but you may replace it with messaging such as:
- The page you’re looking for can’t be found.
- Sorry, we couldn’t locate that page.
- It looks like this page doesn’t exist.
- Try searching or returning to the homepage.
- Oops! Something went wrong.
Sponsorship Opportunities
This section is included by default and displays featured sponsorships when a visitor reaches a nonexistent page.
You can:
- Customize the section heading text, margins, size, and color
- Adjust featured sponsorship display options, including:
- Margins
- Title and description colors
- Whether to display Days Waiting, Biggest Need, Age, Place, or Project
- Whether to show a sponsorship description preview
- Which sponsorship custom fields are displayed
- Vertical or horizontal layout
- Number of sponsorships shown
- Specify the text displayed when no sponsorships are available
If your organization does not use Sponsorships, you may remove this section or replace it with other content.
Preview and Publish
Preview changes on the staging site, then use Actions → Publish Staging to Live Site when you’re ready to apply updates to your live site.
